History[edit | edit source]
Basara is set in a dystopic future Japan, where civilization has reverted into a feudal state. Sarasa grows up in her desert village with her twin brother Tatara, who is proclaimed to be the "child of destiny" who will lead a revolution. When the village is attacked by the Red King and Tatara is killed, Sarasa cuts her hair and assums her brother's identity to lead her people to safety. Acclaimed as the chosen one, will Sarasa fulfill her brother's role and overthrow the cruel Red King?
